UEFA chose INSTITUTE OF PROMOTION as the event agency for its 42nd Ordinary Congress, the first UEFA Congress ever held in Slovakia. The Congress took place on 26 February 2018 at Incheba Expo in Bratislava, and we delivered the entire event. 

Europe’s football parliament

The Congress is UEFA’s supreme body. Once a year it brings together delegates from all 55 member associations, UEFA’s leadership and FIFA representatives, each time hosted by a different member association. Since UEFA was founded in 1954, no ordinary Congress had ever been held in Slovakia. Bratislava 2018 was the first.

The day before, on 25 February, the UEFA Executive Committee met at the Grand Hotel River Park. UEFA streamed both the Congress and the press conference live on UEFA.com.

What was on the agenda

Delegates elected a member of the UEFA Executive Committee and a European vice-president to the FIFA Council. They also approved amendments to the UEFA Statutes, the financial report and the budget.

Hospitality and the VIP evening

The Congress included hospitality for national association delegations and journalists from across Europe, and an evening VIP event where we introduced guests to Slovakia through an engaging programme and visual design. 

Delegates from all 55 associations came to Bratislava to discuss European football. They left knowing what Slovakia can do.
